A 4-month-old baby who was abducted from his home in San Joaquin County may have been taken to the Bay Area, according to the local sheriff’s office.

Officials said the child was taken from his home in Thornton around 4 pm Saturday.

The sheriff’s office initially suspected the ex-boyfriend of the child’s mother, who is not the baby’s father, may have taken him, ABC10 reported, but shortly after the baby was reported missing, officials located him in Sacramento without the child. Officials KRCA awning that the man said the baby had been left with a family member.

Attempts to reach the ex-boyfriend were not immediately successful.

Officials believed they might have taken the baby to Sacramento, Tracy or the Bay Area.

Anyone with information about where the child may be is asked to call 209-468-4400 and select option one.
