Oldham County firefighter dies while battling a structure fire – US 247 News

The Jefferson County coroner has identified a firefighter in Oldham County who has died in the line of duty.Thomas Petschke Jr., 53, a Ballardsville firefighter, was working at the scene of a fire on Saturday evening.According to Jordan Yuodis with Anchorage Middleton Fire and EMS, that is when he experienced a medical emergency. “Our thoughts and condolences go out to his family, friends, and fellow firefighters during this difficult time,” said Youdis. “Our firefighter community is a tight-knit family, and we are grateful for the outpouring of support we have already received.” Yuodis said immediate medical care was provided and the firefighter was taken to Norton Hospital on Brownsboro Road. Petschke served for nine and a half years and is survived by his wife and two children.
